Quite aside from the flying, we are seeing a slice of life through our taxi rides. Yesterday a couple and their dog picked us up at the airport on the way back from the Saturday Market. Turns out they had lived in Burton (just down the road a piece from New Denver) for years, and migrated to Smithers when the jobs dried up. Small world! Then this morning we were picked up by Shania (at least she looked like Shania with about 18 earrings). She was a little harried, having taken her last ride to the hospital with stab wounds. Last seen, the victim's house was surrounded by police. No-one knew whether the stabber was dead or alive.
We are now in Whitehorse. Yay!!! It was a phenomenal day. Yes, blue sky (compare this Smithers' weather photo with yesterday's). Details to follow after a good night's sleep.
Thanks for all your comments! It makes a terrific difference hearing from you.
Congrats on making it to the midway point on the journey!!
ReplyDeleteCrisp photo too!
Congratulations! One of the great things about long days at the wheel - car or plane - is the "dead to the world" sleeps that follow. Especially if you've reached your hoped-for destination.
ReplyDeleteI must admit that your blog's comments confuse me a little. Messages seem to appear in different places. Not a criticism; my unblissful ignorance.
Nice of Smithers to put on a show for you. Nothing on the news, but I guess one little stabbing doesn't fulfil CBC's dramatic requirements. Did you hear anything more?
Looking forward to the next entry.
