Home Sweet Home!

Here we are on final at Alpha Quebec 5. I know, the AQ5 airport identifier doesn't bear any resemblance to the word Nakusp - at least Vancouver as VYR makes sense! There are only 4 resident aircraft in Nakusp, so it is no wonder that the flight briefers say "huh?" unless we give them the code each time.

It is a route Bill could do with his eyes closed - although that's not wise. Two hours from Victoria to Vernon, a half hour fuel stop, and 40 minutes from Vernon home. It was a stinkin' hot day, which means poor lift and more time needed to get to altitude. We treated this towering cu with respect, having seen quite enough of his brother last Friday!

Which reminds me, Kazee has a few mementos from his Yukon journey! Check out the hail damage on his engine cowling.

The pilot and navigator came through the adventure - 30.1 hours in the air - less bruised. I will do one final post on our northern impressions, once feet are firmly back on ground.

Today's pretty picture is majestic Mount Baker, at 7,500 feet.

  1. I'm sure it's nice to be home.
So now it's my turn, out again and back on the 3rd Aug, so far no Typhoons in the general area but usual summertime CBs with associated wx.
Please let us all know when your next adventure begins it's great to follow along.
