Jill has turned this post over to the beer drinker, in response to Chris' question. Today was the Yukon Brewery tour....a well attended event indeed. In the Yukon, prize brews like their Chocolate Brown Ale are sold only in half gallon "growlers". But Lead Dog Strong Ale does come in a six pack. The carton has a legend around the bottom edge "Sled dogs love to run, but lead dogs run with a bold character that stands above the rest. They are complex creatures; strong, confident and ready to face any challenge. Lead Dog Ale stands above other beers in the same way, with its rich strength of character and dark complex undertones, its bold challenging nature appeals to the discriminating beer drinker." Thirsty yet?

Hey Bill! How much of that can you carry before you're too heavy to get off the ground?Rosalie
ReplyDeleteClassy jug. Can you re-cap it mid-way through or do you have to drink it all at one go? (I think "go" woould be the operative verb there.) Does it really taste of chocolate or is that a colour reference?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I noticed that, despite your long quote, you never indicated if you tasted, let alone liked, the brewery's products. Come on - pull out your list of pretentious adjectives - long finish, hoppy flavour, gritty texture.
Cheers to you both, j
As I enjoy your latest postings, outside a "start of the season" tropical storm is beating up HK.
ReplyDeleteFantastic pics Jill, really has me remembering the views a privleged few get to see, thanks for sharing.
Possibly another memory for all of you could be a night flight to take in the Northern lights.
Enjoy the tasting,...I'm soo jealious!

Good picture of Bill with the jug. Is it empty? You may have to pilot the plane back alone, Jill! Now Bill has got himself tasting the Yukon ales, we may never see him in the south again!
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures.
Monica
The jug is not empty. We're sure the first visiting son will take care of that!
ReplyDeleteBill is currently working down the 7 flavours offered by Yukon Brewing. Tough work, but someone's got to do it!!! To whet your appetite, see http://www.yukonbeer.com/ourbrew.html
I'm not into beer, but I could be if it's disguised with chocolate.
Think how much product we could stuff into the plane if we jettison our survival gear!
